| Calcium carbonate is an inorganic compound with the molecular formula CaCO3 and the main component of limestone. There are three kinds of heterogeneous crystals of calcium carbonate in nature, namely calcite, aragonite and vaterite, which are respectively determined by the different arrangement of atoms in the crystal, which can form grains with different shapes and symmetry. Industrial calcium carbonate is a semi-functional filler, which is divided into precipitated calcium carbonate and heavy calcium carbonate. Precipitated calcium carbonate is produced by a chemical reaction, and heavy calcium carbonate is mechanically ground from calcium carbonate ore. Compared with heavy calcium carbonate, many properties of precipitated calcium carbonate can be controlled by the adjustment of chemical reaction parameters. Guangxi Warner produces a variety of morphology of calcite or aragonite precipitated calcium carbonate: rhombus (cubic), complex triangular trihedron, rosette, rhomboid, rod and rice grain. Vaterite calcium carbonate is unstable and will spontaneously be converted to calcite or aragonite. Heavy calcium carbonate is generally calcite. |
